4 Healthy Snacks while Watching a Movie at Home

For so long, many people have been struggling to follow nutritional prescriptions while watching movies at the theater. This is because the snacks found at the theaters may contain a lot of calories and fats which many people are trying to avoid due to their effects on the body. If you wish to cut weight, frequent visits to the theater can’t make you achieve your objective while eating those snacks. However, watching movies at home is the best option nowadays since you have control of all snacks you need to stay healthy. You can bring the theater movie experience to your home with ease by using the following healthy snack diet while enjoying your movie!

1. Butter Popcorn

This is one of the healthy snacks one can ever have while watching a movie.


6 cups freshly popped popcorn
1/4 cup unsalted butter
Sea salt, to taste


Put the popcorn in a big bowl.
In a saucepan on medium heat, melt the butter and skim off the white residue from the top of the butter.
Drizzle the butter over popcorn and then sprinkle it with sea salt.

2. Nachos with Hot Cheese Sauce

This takes at least 10 minutes to prepare.


1 large bag of Tortilla chips
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup milk
1 tbsp all purpose flour
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp hot sauce


Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour until well mixed. Next, add the milk and mix well.
Whisk in the cheese until sauce is smooth. Add salt and hot sauce to taste, stir.
Serve with Tortilla chips.

3. Potato Chips

This is a delicious healthy snack since it contains low amounts of fat and forms an ideal environment when watching a movie.


2 potatoes, thinly sliced
2 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp cayenne pepper


Arrange the potatoes on a microwaveable plate.
Sprinkle salt, garlic and cayenne powder over potatoes.
Microwave on high for 5-8 minutes until crispy.

4. Brown Butter Five Spice Snack Mix

This snack is very healthy and very ideal when watching a movie.


1 cup Chex cereal
1/2 cup small pretzel twists
1 cup cheese crackers
1 cup unsalted butter
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp Chinese five spice powder


Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
In a bowl, mix together the chex, pretzels and cheese crackers.
Spread the cereal mix on an ungreased baking sheet.
Melt the butter in a saucepan, stir until it turns brown. Pour over the cereal mix.
Sprinkle salt and five spice over the mix.
Bake in oven for 30-40 minutes, stir the cereal mix after 15 minutes.
